I'll think the winners will be:
Carmel........................... Warren Central *........... Fort Wayne Dwenger..... Indianapolis Cathedral... West Lafayette *........... Indianapolis Chatard..... Fort Wayne Luers.......... Monrovia........................ Lafayette C. Catholic..... Fountain Central............
These are not necessarily the teams I want to see win, I just think they will win though.
* Had previously chosen Center Grove in 5A, and Jimtown in 3A. But had a change of heart after last weeks regional results.

I get the drift of what you are saying, Reitz has played extremely well in the tournament, even better than the regular season imo. They are probably playing their best football right now, so I partially agree with you. ... However, Cathedral, as we all know is an extremely strong football team. Imo it will take a "titan effort" by Reitz to pull this one out. I'll take Cathedral by two touchdowns.

I figure that Reitz will have to play perfect, but that spread offense with that talent at QB anyhting can happen, and that all state QB is only a junior so Reitz should be back next year too

u know cranky, when we beat cathedral 2 years ago, everyone said we wouldnt be able to pull it out, and even though we got lucky, we kept right up there with them. Not to mention, they are going to be at R house this time. Im not sayin Cathedral isnt gonna give up, and Im not even gonna try and guess who is gonna win, but ill tell u right now, its gonna be a dog fight and I think we have what it takes.

I think Cathedral should win this contest, but it will be a game. Reitz, I see has a good quarterback, my question is he better than Kofi Hughes, I doubt it. But, let's say he plays equally as well, Cathedral has more experience in the tournament and plays a tougher schedule. We shall see, that's why we play the games. The other semi-state I think is an even toss up. I think these two teams are mirror images of each other. Good luck to Lowell and go SAINTS.

This years' Reitz/Cathedral matchup is almost deja vu all over again compared to the 07 game, there are a lot of similarities between the two games. In my opinion though, reitzgirl90, Reitz compares to the 07 team in many ways. They won a tight game in Indy with no change to spare. This time the Panthers are the home team and will take advantage of that fact. However, imo Cathedral is even better this year than two years ago. Reitz has to be considered the underdog in this one, actually I hope I am wrong, I would like to see the Panthers win, but I don't think they will.

I heard today that Paoli's Logan Laswell, one of their studs on offense and defense, has at best, a strained ACL. He's going to play, but his effectiveness will be down.

Toughbreak for the Rams, if he isn't able to go at 100 per cent, it could be a gamebreaker. This game was going to be close to begin with, hope the injury does not hamper his play to a serious degree. Both Paoli and Monrovia are undefeated and you don't get to 13-0 without overcoming adversity at some point in the season. Good luck Ramblers.

Would like to see Reitz win and represent a true southern indiana team, but I fear Cathedral will be too tough as they have an awesome team probably the best in any class.

I hate to be the pessimist in the crowd, but feel that this years finals may look a lot like last years. Both the 5A and 4A are very likely to be a repeat of last years games, the 3A will most likely bring the dreaded Chatard "sleep" game unless West Lafayette can pass them into submission. The 2A game holds out for some hope unless Luers is back. However, I am looking forward to the winner of the Paoli-Monrovia game appearing at LOS. The 1A game will be a blowout as LCC could handled many of the 5A teams in our state. If LCC, Luers, Chatard, and either Dwenger or Cathedral win the first four games, I can guarantee you that the clamor for the IHSAA to address the P/P issue will be louder than ever.

All im gonna say is that Cathedral was either totally overrated, or they really didnt have it in them tonite because the Panthers just kicked their butts. 31-10. Is anyone suprised by this?

Its called match-ups. I'm quessing Cathedral didn't have four lock down corners to controll Reitz's passing game. And likewise Reitz must have enough beef up front to handle Cathedrals running game.

Dougbo was at the game and indicated that Cathedral's defense was concentrated on stopping McIntosh running more than his passing. He also said that Kofi Hughes, Cathedral quaterback was injured early but returned as a wide receiver. In addition, one of Reitz' TDs was a fourth and long when Cathedral evidently had a defensive breakdown because Dougbo said a Reitz receiver was all alone in the end zone. He also questioned Cathedral punting late in the 3rd quarter with a fourth and 1 at midfield (could be the Bellichek syndrome). However, a 31-10 win indicates that on this night Reitz was the better team.
