i think that this will be the best regional in the state saturday, just wanted to see who everyone thinks will win it? That has to be best joke I've heard in a long time. Granted its better than that Washington regional with the little sisters of the poor and the school for the blind in it. They couldn't make that regional any weaker. However, the best regional on Saturday is in Indy with North Central, Pike, Hamilton, and Center Grove.

OK....Let's start something here about the 2011 Shelbyville Regional. The first game will have the New Pal(estine) Dragons going up againt the Batesville Bulldogs at 10:00 A.M. Then the 2nd game will have Roncali Vs. Danville. I have little knowledge of the Roncali / Danville teams. So if you are familiar with these teams,,,please update us with team/player info. I see that New Pal has a record of 11-11.....so going into the Sectional they were a below .500 team. They beat Hamilton Heights,,,,which features IU recruit Etherington....and they had a pretty strong team. Seems to me that they might have had some injuries. New Pal then defeated Shelbyville.....I had seen them play at Batesville late in the season.....I was surprised the Shebyville beat Rushville.......Word on the street says New Pal has 1 outstanding player and some solid players to support him. Batesville is 16-6.....with 4 of their losses coming from East Central (4A) and Greensburg. Other losses were Rushville in a blowout and a good North Vernon team on the road. Batesville starts 4 Seniors and 1 Junior....and are usually 8 - 10 deep on a regular basis. No outstanding or Div. 1 players.....but a good TEAM who usually has someone step up for each game. I guess you would say I am partial to Batesville as I have seen all 22 games. Fill me in on any team details!!

New Pal does have 1 good player, averaging about 17ppg. but he is no Colt Ryan. Danville has a good team with Tyler Hall being their best player. Don't know a thing about Roncolli. But hey, it's sectional time and records don't mean a whole lot. Who would have thought Rushville would fall to Shelbyville in the 1st round? The good news is Batesville boys are playing their best ball of the year this time of year when it matters most. 3 good seniors and 1 good junior...I'll take that.

Batesville played great defense against SD and Greensburg. That's what won those games. Had they been close contests, they loose simply by the effort put forth from the line. This time of year, to shoot 50% from the stripe and win once is fornuate. Do do it twice, is more than lucky. My opinion, the Bulldogs will have to play the defense they did against Greensburg AND shoot very well (>70%) from the foul line to have a chance at the Regional. Wish I could be there but will be out of the country. Go Dogs!

You are absolutely right about free throws making or breaking a team at tournament time, bballnut. They are critical. Hopefully that area hass been STRESSED at practice to the Batesville boys. Word is New Pal doesn't play as hard defense as our boys have seen against a lot of the teams they have already played. It's gonna take some luck and hopefully some calls will go our way to get the job done. Good luck Batesville!

Totally agree on the missed FT's..... They will come back to haunt you in the end of a close game. Any of the BHS football players who are playing basketball should have a little revenge factor for this game. New Pal. ran up the score this past fall on the gridiron. Hopefully there is a QB, LB, or defensive back who can remind the rest of the team of what happened up on New Pals field back last fall.........Revenge is sweet.......and can be a great motivator. GO DOGS!!!!

Probably the best stat of the night: Batesville had 3 total turnovers for the game.

Probably the best stat of the night: Batesville had 3 total turnovers for the game. That is remarkable......Did Roncolli apply much pressure (i.e. trap or press or both)?

What an incredible game!!! This was one of those classic Indiana basketball games. Congrats to Batesville. Cameron Fledderman had an amazing night, the kid was on fire. He knocked down a 3 every time the Dogs got behind. Smart player. Happy for Luke Williams also. GO BULLDOGS!
