Mt. VERNON........Hands down. Unless something drastic happens to the team, no one else in the Shelbyville regional is in the same class with them. Greensburg will find out what a very good team can do against them.....and I do not think it will be pretty.

Mt. Vernon...if they don't win, it will be a HUGE upset. Greensburg will not get to enjoy the luxury of playing on their home floor like sectional. (SECTIONAL GAMES SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED ON ANY OF THE TEAM'S HOME FLOOR.)

Please get past this. Your team has lost 4 straight to your rival...and all you can still do..is continue to bash the Pirates. Can't you actually root for Greensburg, and the EIAC as well. Greensburg doing well, makes Batesville look better.
I'll be the first to say though, Mt. Vernon should win as they are better. Having said that, NO ONE thought Greensburg would beat Roncalli last year. Then they said, they had NO CHANCE in beatng North Montgomery. And who would have thought they'd lead Princeton at any point in the second half without their best player? See a trend here? All im saying--true, Mt. Vernon would probably win 9 times out of 10, but it takes just one special game, one special moment for Greensburg to get that one. There's too many contributing factors to simply say Greensburg has no chance.
And as for the whole "home floor" thing- It wasn't a big deal when Menser, Grimsley, and Ryan were winning sectionals on Greensburg's home floor. No doubt though, Greensburg has consistently done a superb job of hosting sectionals and will continue to do so (along with Madison) into the future. Perhaps it would be different though if Batesville had a gym large enough to host a 3A sectional.

Very well put pirate121. dawgfan001 how many years has sectionals been played in Indiana. DUUUU . As for oldschoolball, one thing that will be pretty at Shellbyville is Greensburg will be on the floor still playing there hearts out. ;D

it does take one game anyone can beat anyone on any night it may not be easy but there are always upsets. i dont care where the game is played but if someone has a big historic gym why shouldnt it be there. if i was playing i would want to play some place that has history and a great atomspere. either way sounds like mt. vernon has a great team and could make a good run to indy.

Everyone from Batesville WILL be rooting for G'burg, you're representing the EIAC! However, objectively, Mt. Vernon should advance - I think that's all anyone is saying here. Playing on your home floor in a sectional championship game is a huge advantage. I don't understand your comment regarding Menser, Grimsley & Ryan winning on Greensburg's court - Anyway, this regional will be the best in the state on Saturday. Anyone within a reasonable drive should highly consider going to this one!

Ease on down, Greensburg fans! I'm just giving my opinion about home floor advantage. You can't honestly say that didn't make any difference in that game...Anyway, enjoy the ride this weekend because you won't beat Batesville 4 times in a row in the forseeable future.

I have seen Mt. Vernon play a couple of times. I have not seen the other teams play. I have heard that Mt. Vernon has two division one players. Is this true?

Now boys, let's all calm down. I think the EIAC is a great conference year in and year out. Hey pirate, I figured the Pirates had a chance in the regional last year because they were disciplined, could shoot and were very well coached. I agree with you that nobody gave much hope to Greensburg last year against Princeton with Wright kicked off (including myself). But I went and cheered for them and they did a beautiful job against a much more talented team. They had a chance. I cheered for them because they are EIAC. As for gym size, is that like a speaker thing? As for you iuhoho, grow up. Yes, the Pirates will be at Shelbyville. No one has bashed the Pirates. I'm sure in years past you sure weren't rooting for Batesville. Don't rub it in. Nobody here has said in the past how bad we owned you (even during the Menser, Grimesly, Ryan years). We simply went about our business and did the best we could. I really hope you all can have two of the bigest upsets in the state Saturday because that's what it would be to get past Mt Vernon and Danville (although Brebauf is always tough). I wonder where your hearts would be had the Dogs won Saturday. Cheering for? ? Buzzer. Don't worry about the response. You're dealing with two emotionally charged teenagers. And yes, home court is an advantage. Just look at the Sagrin. It's a +. And, if you have a vastly superior team, probably doesn't matter what gym you play in. The best team will win, no matter home court or not. Please Buzzer, if you're going to bash, do a better job as I have failed to see the BASH. Last. dawgfan, I agree. Probably will be several years before the Pirates beat the Dogs more than once in a season. Might go a few years before they achieve one win based upon JV and Freshman performance. Go Pirates. I really am rooting for you. Hope you acheive the unthinkable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said bballnut. I appreciate your support of the Pirates and the EIAC last year. I'm actually not an emotionally charged teenager, but that's besides the point. True, you've owned us in the past. I can actually remember rooting for Menser as I respected his game so much- such an outstanding player. I too, attended and rooted for the Bulldogs and Ryan and Grimsley during their regionals at New Castle I believe.
No doubt, the Pirates are sure to suffer next year after losing 10 seniors off of this team. However, we could surprise some people as we've got one returner with some talent and two 6-8 guys down low (they played JV this past year). In addition, we have two of the top 8th graders in the state entering the system next year.
Batesville should have our number next year, but look for things to heat back up in the years thereafter. Basketball in this area of the state is no doubt best when this rivarly includes two good teams as we've been fortunate to experience these last couple of years.

I was aware of one G'burg 8th grader but not two. I've heard that one of these guys is just a beast & was actually practicing with the varsity squad - is that true? Please fill us in on who these kids are and their strengths. I love local talent.
B'ville had very good 7th grade talent this year. Two of these kids - Evan Blanken & the Hoeing kid are around 6'2" - both run the floor very well and can handle the ball. Hoeing is the focal talent. He is a scorer. His mother is former Indiana All-Star Donna (Lamping) Hoeing, who was Ball State's all-time leading scorer for many years. In fact, I think she could still hoop it up with the best around here.
Playing in the EIAC the next 5-6 years will be incredibly competitive and I believe it will produce quite a few D1 players. It's gonna be very exciting.
GO PIRATES! Shock the state & bring home a regional championship.

I have always hoped that Batesville do well after sectional. 2nd oldschoolball when u said " Greensburg will find out what a very good team can do against them.....and I do not think it will be pretty" sounds like u will be glad to see G'burg get beat,so we G'burg fans do take it personal. We know Mt Vernon is a very good team but our kids will still show up. They will play hard enough to make us proud.

All you can hope for is that the kids play hard. If they win, great! If not, enjoy the moment and the season. Then you do what most do every year and that is wait til next year. Have fun Greensburg and Good Luck!
