Butler F Matt Howard Named Academic All American Of Year. In the wording yes your right. Congratulations to him and the others that earned the honor of Academic 1st Team All-Americans:
Butler's Matt Howard, Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis, Northern Colorado's Devon Beitzel, Kansas's Tyrell Reed, and UNC's Tyler Zeller

It has nothing to do with the wording, but the fact that Matt was voted academic all american of the year. Its just like having a first team all america and a player of the year.

Congratulations to these young men that define the word student athlete. Its great to have so many indiana ties in this it just goes to show how great these kids are and how they are great role models for any high school player.

Whether correct or incorrect, ALWAYS distasteful.

Lets see, this is pretty typical on here. I make a post congratulating a kid on an honor. I was then attacked, told I was wrong, and then called names. I respond without calling names and am eventually proven correct only to have more personal attacks levied at me. It's too bad most people on here can't keep their class bball success in proper perspective and need to be reminded of the facts, which most on here just can't handle.

Maybe its the way the perspective and facts are presented. That's the problem with written response, a person is unable to see or hear the response which can have a drastic impact on the way the message is received. We read a response and place it in the most common context that we've experienced.

Thread like this that started so well and one person makes a comment to correct an honest error and it turns into a rant. Thats why this message board sucks compared to Basketball Digest and they have posters from all over the state, if you are truely interested in Basketball in this great state leave this site and join the other!!! I have i just like to come here for a laugh!!!! While our kids our bowling in the local youth league, this site provides us with alot of entertainment for a group of dads with teenage kids. We get to sit there and enjoy this stuff so really dont stop, keep it up we love the laughs and wish you had to have video posts so we could see what these people look like, that would be hilarious!!

What was the honest mistake that was being corrected? I'm already on Basketball Digest and saw a great post talking about how unfair 1a and 2a are since most private schools are in those classes. They also pretty much suggested 3a was the easiest class because of the lack of private schools. If someone wrote that kind of stuff over here they would never hear the end of it. Also, you know what would make a great video.......a group of dads making fun of people on a message board while watching their sons bowling in a league.

Congratulations to Matt on being named academic all-american player of the year. You realize you are congratulating a former 3A player don't you? But I will say great accomplishment for him 3rd time 1st all conference and also to Tyler Zeller for 2nd team all conference. Still believe he should be on the bench? Serious question. He is not playing bad. If you are a basketball person you have to see that he has done well this yr since he is healthy. You don't have to like any of the Washington fans or Tyler but the kid has played well.

Zeller isn't playing bad nor is he playing as good as his ppg suggest. I have read on here several times how great of an outside shooter he is but I certainly have seen no evidence of that. All I have ever seen the kid make are layups and dunks created by others drives where he gets a pass or an easy put back. He does score some on leak outs and is a decent freethrow shooter. Matt on the other hand has developed a much better overall game and has become a very good 3 point shooter as well.
