Does anyone know the winning % of coach Wagoner?

On the varsity level, I believe he is 45-19, which calculates out to 70.3%. The rumor round Loogootee is that since he didn't win the Sectional that his job is in jeopardy. Let's hope that cooler heads prevail and he keeps his job. Considering where the Lions are at and where they came from 3 yrs ago (4-18) many think that he has done a good job. People in Loogootee tend to forget that Jack Butcher is no longer the coach. Give the man a break and let him coach. I have been hundreds of LHS games in the last 30 years and what's going on now is crazy. Jack was 806-250 (I believe that was it), Brett was something like 95-56 (with a state runnerup) and Wagoner has yet to win a sectional in 3yrs, but did win the Blue Chip, and lost the sectional final on the last shot. 17-5 isn't too shabby anywhere. All three coaches played at LHS and coached at LHS. All 3 have been successful, the first two got more than 3 years to prove themselves. Doesn't Wagoner at least deserve that?

I believe the current coach is doing a fine job with the program. I'm a Hatchet fan but always like to see how the schools around us are doing. Its good to see Daviess County teams and other teams like Martin County do well. It always hard to replace a coach like Butcher who did so well while he was coaching. Its kind of like the the Bob Knight effect. Whoever comes after will have big shoes to fill. Anyway, I will stop rambling now ;D.

I heard the same thing, what decision has to be made? I guess improving every year isn't enough at Loogootee. If I were Coach Wagoner, I know what I would tell them with their decision! It's easy, recommend the guy and let him start getting ready for next year. Even if he is recommended, the writings on the wall! Win Sectional or else, be micromanaged by your administration and school board. The only solution to that would be to bring JB back, they wouldn't dare try this with him. Ha, wouldn't that be a hoot! Good luck to Coach Wagoner, he's going to need it!

assist08: ... I think you nailed it. Micromanaging from school boards is a problem in some school systems.

Talking with an ole coach today (no, not JB) he said that this has been going on for awhile. Coach Butcher got out for that very reason according to this coach. He saw it coming! They got rid of Coach Brett, what's to stop them from getting rid of Coach W?

I'm sorry but I just don't understand why the school board and Loogootee's Administration has such high standards. Most schools with Wagoner's record would be very satisfied. Jack Butcher is gone forever and times have changed. Other schools like Barr Reeve and North Daviess have caught up. I don't think you will ever see another era like the Jack Butcher era. Sorry Loogootee fans thats just the plain truth. You can still be successful and win sectionls just not as often as they would like to think. Look at the Hatchets they will probably never replicate what they have done in the past 7 years again. They can still be successful without having back to back State Championships and 4 in 7 years.

Why does Loogootee think they are the mecca of Indian High School Basketball? Little info for the public about class basketball. Jack Butcher was one of the top if not the top persuader for the class system. He was tired of winning all these games and having nothing to show for it. I would have rather made it to semi-state of the one class tourney than won a championship in the class system.
