Just saw the score of the game. I was pretty surprised, to say the least. Memorial is a well coached team, I know many don't like Wilgus but he gets the job done. I don't like him much when he coaches against Princeton for sure. He does demand respect from his players, or they don't play. I thnk Burkhart is trying to do the same thing, but he has his hands full at Bosse.
Baity I thought was their best player for the last couple of years, but he would play outside the offensive scheme and Wilgus would set him down alot. I think he has learned his lesson and turned into a very good player.

Greensburg(3A) beats Jennings County(4A) 102- 51. JC had 25 in the 4th when Gburg put in there upper class-men. Gburg starts 1 Fr, 3 So, 1 Sr.

Greensburg beats Indian Creek 76-36. Gburg shoots 70% from the floor and 76% at the line. IC tried to slow the game but Gburg still scored there ave, 76 points.
This is a fine young team, if you would like to see them they play at Shelbyville 1/06/12 and at Connersville 1/07/12. Then a real show-down at Gburg against Batesville 1/13/12, This is a must see game. Always a great game.

I believe Greensburg will roll through the regular season without a blemish on their record. They are, without a doubt, the BEST 3A team south of I70, and in my opinion, the state - and I'm from Batesville. I'd love to think B'ville will be competitive next Saturday (as they were in the first meeting) but being the realist that I am, we may get blown out by 25-30. The Bulldogs have one of the bigger lineups in the state and they consistently settle for the perimter shot. It amazes me. No need to play the Bulldogs man-to-man, just get back in a 2-3 zone because they'll be passing the ball around the arc until they get the open shot or turn the ball over. Tori Jackson is 6'8" (extremely under utilized) and Walsman is 6'6" - these guys do roam the base line and post up but the ball never finds its way to them. Coach Garrett was pleading with his team on Wednesday to pound the ball inside (not to mention hustle) and it never really sunk in. B'ville will have a very good record this season but will have no shot at getting out of the Sectional unless they change their ways not to mention their attitude.
Ahhhh ...I feel better now getting that off my chest. Prove me wrong Bulldogs, prove me wrong!

Greensburg wins a tuff game at Connersville by 9 , 62-53 . Cville slowed the game down and did a real good job most of the night, but they could not stop Gburg at the foul line 27 /32 I think. Next week will be a great show, Batesville will be very hungry for a piece of Gburg . H.S. Basketball at its best. Ya ll come and fill the gym.

hey iuhoho. you're right. it will be a great game, typical EIAC but with added flavor. I think for the dogs to win, they must do three things. keep the priates from the line, take care of the ball and minimize second chance points. i think the second and third thoughts are the easiest. the prirates find a way to get to the line almost 30 attempts a game and they make an unbelievable amount for a hs team. I think zone to minimize the dribble penetration and play the odds that-a great shooting pirates team-may have an off night from outside. phiscally, the pirates don't match up and by going zone, the dogs could minimize second chance points. the other factor is the dogs must make their FTs, even though they shoot about a team 40%, IF THAT. Also, the dogs need to get it INSIDE. they have so much more size it amazes me that we still are willing to play an outide game. Thoughts?

bballnut I would have to agree with you. Connersville made it hard to get in the lane and they did make us work for that win. Tressler helps alot inside with a strong body, we didn't have him in the 1st game. Gburg does have 7 players that can hit 3s, with Lee,Burcham and Rigney (the best shooter) off the bench. This game will be played with so much emotion that just being a part of it (or in the stands) will be incredible. The team that stays under control stands the best chance to come out on top. WOW in 7 wks we get to do this all again.

It's always so fun to beat Bville and return the favor. Just hope Gburg plays well in sectional to win bc either team is obviously good enuf to advance. Nice to have 2 very good teams go at it and give us all a great game and atmosphere, just to bad it has to be in the sectional round. Keep it up Pirates, and keep your goal set high, you have a chance to have an extra special year!
