To this point, the Colts are the strongest team in the AFC...record notwithstanding, I think they are. But there are other teams that I think could still get to Detroit if they get a couple of breaks.
1. Pittsburgh - injuries, injuries. Big Ben will sit and so will Bettis, but Deuce is coming back and Ben won't be out any more than two weeks. I still think they could take the Colts in the playoffs if they can get everyone healthy. Really was rooting against them this past Sunday but they got that late field goal to win.
2. New England - say what you will, this year's team isn't the same as last years, but until someone beats them they're still the champs. And until the Colts beat them, the Colts aren't going anywhere. The Monday Night game this week is huge.
3. Denver - not totally sold on Plummer but he is performing thus far. And Anderson/Bell as a 1-2 punch in the running game is hard to handle. If one would go down, you'd have to think that the other would pick up the slack and still go 150+ with 2 TD's.
4. San Diego - finally coming around a bit. LT has thrown almost as many touchdowns as some QB's, not to mention all his rushing yards and TD's. And Drew Brees is still underrated in my book.
5. Jacksonville - quietly becoming a solid team once again. At best a wild card team thanks to the Colts, but they could make some noise.
6. Cincinnati - as a former Bengals fan prior to the Colts coming in '84, I'm excited to see their emergence, but I just don't see this team keeping up their current pace. They might sneak in the playoffs at 10-6 or even 9-7, but the Steelers will pass them up for the division title, and I think they exit in the first round if they get that far.
OK, that's what I think. What do you think?
