It also might have to do with the rose colored glasses some fans wear when they watch a game. You guys probably aren't used to facing aggressive teams like those found in 4a. The more aggressive a team is the more the refs usually allow on the defensive end. Since you guys guys are used to playing the girls version of basketball.....you still think the game is a non-contact sport.

you are so out of touch with the game of basketball it's astonishing. did you ever play the game? I highly doubt it. for a person that claims to have such a high IQ with the game you sure make some of the dumbest arguments. But then again you are from Carmel.

Since you guys guys are used to playing the girls version of basketball.....you still think the game is a non-contact sport. Actually what I usually see in the 4A games is more slapping and hacking then defense. I find that the smaller schools actually move there feet more and play actual defense because they are not as gifted athletically as some of the bigger schools. Bigger schools usually like to run and gun, so usually there is a lack of defense. That aside Bloomington South is an exception. They play tough on both ends of the floor. Washington had one of the top defenses as well in the state of Indiana. Including keeping Warsaw in the 40's in the HOF, even though a losing effort. mrmiyagi - can you please stop with the bashing and try to be civil. Let's try to make contributions to this site without bashing other fans and schools. Everybody has a right to their own opinion but please try to keep it civil. We are supposedly all adults here so lets act like one. This includes everybody on the site not just you.

Degrading? ?? First time I've heard anyone use that word in association with the Zeller name! I guess all the college coaches that were after Cody must be wrong...NOT! The Zellers family represents character and class, something you have no idea about. The landslide victory for Mr. Basketball should speak volumes, especially since he's from southern Indiana. Cody deserved the honor PERIOD. It's in the books baby! Cody Zeller 2011 Indiana Mr. Basketball!

I got a kick out of the 2A comment. Unfortunately thats the way Washington fans really think about 1A and 2A. They snub their noses at smaller teams while having a fit when 4A thinks they are the best. The Zellers have all had excellent careers but none were probably deserving of the Mr. Basketball award.

To all those who are making a big deal about Cody's comment about 2A & 3A IT WAS A JOKE WITH YOGI IT SAID THAT IN THE ARTICLE!! Cody & Yogi are good friends and both going to IU. Washington fans are great fans that support their team, just visit the Hatchet house sometime.

I never said the award is degraded by the Zellers winning it but why they are winning it. Two trips to the HOF and zero wins while another Mr. Bball candidate outplays them head to head and yet they still win Mr Bball. Sorry but those 3a titles are a joke compared to the 4a tourney. We now have A #1 and #2 nationally rated players not win the Mr Bball award. I think that shows how much the award has degraded since class bball started.

I think that nic moore is the only one that has a real argument about mr. basketball being that he did beat cody in a heads up game and from what i have read it sounds like he carried his team for most of the season. Teague being ranked that highly nationally is very impressive and i can see the argument a little bit there but when cody won gatorade player of the year for indiana i think that pretty much sealed it. These two players mentioned were both well deserving as was cody. I am happy that cody won it and i will agree with you a little mrmiyagi that it is hard to tell who should win it because of playing in different classes and different teams and different competition. In the end though we will never know and i think cody was well deserving of the honor.

It's all about the body of work, not one game. As far as your 4A banter, it sounds like to me you're the one looking down on everyone but 4A. I believe the Hatchets would have won it all the last 2 years...no matter what class. Who else that you've mentioned wears 3 championship rings like Zeller? PS-The fact remains Cody Zeller IS Mr. Basketball.

I think that says it all about his total body of work.

So Zeller finshed #101 three times in his career. Washington is #101.......Washington is #101.........Washington is #101. Once for each ring, BABY.

So did Deshaun Thomas not deserve the Mr. Basketball Title? He played in 2A. Are his rings worth less than the others. He won at least 2 state championships that I can remember, maybe 3. Out of the last 14 years, 10 of the 14 winners were either from the Indianapolis area or Bloomington. Should McRoberts or Dominic James have won over Zeller? Yes. That would have made it 11 of 14. Miyagi, I think your real problem with Washington peeps is that Luke Zeller beat out McRoberts and your still sour about it. But like I said earlier they gave it to him because of the near triple double and half court shot that won the game. They give that award to players from your area 75% of the time. Stop complaining that someone south of I70 that doesn't live in Bloomington got the award. It will be back in your area next year.

Leurs plays a very solid schedule and beat several 4a teams while Thomas was there. There is no comparison between Luers and Washington schedules. That being said, those 2a titles are just that 2a titles and should never be confused with a 4a or one class title. So now we have to give Mr Bball to someone outside of Indy every chance we get? I guess the best bball player doesn't matter any more if he is from the Indy area. We have to let everyone share in all awards anymore just like class bball.

mrmiyagi - Ignorance you say... well I've been trying to look @ things from your point of view, but there's one major problem I can't get my head that far up your butt! Ignorant & arrogant you must be proud! PS- Don't like class bball, but it is what it is...

Yes, ignorance is exactly what it is. Anyone that thinks those smaller class titles are the same as a 4a title or old one class title has to be ignorant at the very least. As for arrogant, anyone that says Washington would have won any class this year when they lost to all three 4a teams they played has to be amazingly arrogant, or maybe thats amazingly ignorant.......I'm guessing both. OK lets cheer.........Washington is #101.........Washington is #101 .........Washington is #101. WOW thats fun.
